Bundi 

 Bundi is a historic place in the southeastern Rajasthan. The state on Bundi was founded in 1341 by Rao Deva. Bundi is situated 34 km from Kota in a ring of hills full of natural beauty. The fair of ‘Badi Teej’ in Bundi is very famous in Rajasthan. Historic places, battle walls and the Chhatries of kings are some attractions for tourists. Bundi is renown for its intricate paintings and murals.

How to reach Bundi

Road: Tourist taxis and buses are available from Jaipur and Kota. Air: Nearest airport is Jaipur, 206 km away. Rail: Kota, 36 km is the closest important railhead.

Places of tourist interest

Taragarh fort which broods over the town in the narrow valley below and the huge palace which stands beneath it. This Fort was built in 1354. It is reached by a steep road leading up the hill side to its enormous gateway, topped by rampant elephants. Inside are huge reservoirs carved out of solid rock and the Bhim Burj, the largest of the battlements, on which is mounted a famous cannon.

The Palace is one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture. It is massed across a rocky height , approached by a road of stone steps and ramps . The Chitra Mahal is sheer beauty with beautiful murals done in the Bundi style of miniature paintings.

Kesar baag - There are 65 Chhatries (Memorial pavalions) built in the sacred memory of kings of Bundi.

Suraj Chhatri and Mordi Ki Chhatri - Several cenotaphs stand on the hills all around Bundi. The Suraj Chhatri was built by Rani Shyam Kumara wife of raja Chhatrasal on the northern hill and Mordi Ki Chhatri was built by Mayuri the second wife of Chhatrasal on the southern hill.

Chaurasi Stambh Chhatri  - This Chhatri was built by Deva the younger brother of King Anirudh Singh at Devpura village near Bundi in the year of 1682 AD and there are 83 pillars in this monument.

Jait Sagar - This lake was built by Jaita Meena. Raja Vishnu Singh built a palace ‘Sukh Mahal’ at the banks. There are some interesting paintings and statues in the palace.

Nagar Sagar - It was built by maharaja Ummaid Singh as a public garden. A temple and a cenotaph are some palace of attraction for tourist.
