Makhan Murghi (Butter Chicken)

2 chickens split in halves 

1/2 cup yoghurt 

2 tsp ginger/garlic 

1 tsp crushed black pepper

 1 tbsp oil 

1/4 cup butter 

1/4 cup cream 

1 tsp white pepper

 2 tbsp lemon juice 

1/4 tsp powdered tuj (cinnamon)

 1/4 tsp powdered elachi (cardamom) 

1/4 tsp cloves powdered 

1 can tomato puree (1 cup) 

1 tsp salt 

1 1/2 tsp freshly pounded red chilies

Mix yogurt, oil, ginger/garlic, 1/2 of lemon juice and spices together. Smear over chicken halves and allow to marinate for a few hours. Grill over barbeque till browned or lightly fry and cook them in the oven for 40m ins. Sauce: to tomato sauce, add rest of lemon and butter. Any left over marinade from chicken should be added to sauce. Blend over warm heat. Just be fore serving add cream to sauce. Put chicken in platter, spread sauce over.Serve hot with chopped coriander and mint sprigs.
